The project Future Nostalgia is a journey through Poland’s contemporary cultural landscape, and through symbolical notions about it too. Works executed as part of the project subjectively interpret the current state of the Polish landscape, dealing in particular with transformations and processes which have taken place in Poland since 1989.
One of the central aspects of my creative process here is observation of symptomatic features that manifest themselves in the appearance of the Polish landscape, in nature, architecture, and urban planning; in the strategies that we tend to employ when attempting to tame and organise space; in the ways in which we tell the world about ourselves—both individually and collectively, as larger communities—about our likings, our social status, our history, and above all, about our dreams.
